Please note that because this list is updated on a regular basis, and depending on the area you are browsing from, may return different results.

Latest work from home jobs

If you can't find any opportunities that interest you from the list provided here, use the search form to look for other positions listed on Indeed.

Hint 1: In the 'What' area, type in a keyword like 'home' or 'home based'. This will limit the search to listings that have the word home in the title or description. You can also use the keyword 'Remote' for the 'Where' option to filter the results to ones that specifically mention remote in their area.

Hint 2: Not all home based jobs can be done completely from home. Some require you go into the office occasionally or on a semi-regular basis. If you don't mind having to go into the office every now and then, it's worth broadening your search to ones that include 'some work can be done remotely' or 'some work can be done from home'.

It's worth keeping in mind that some jobs are for permanent employees and some are on a contract or freelance basis. If you are after stability and security then permanent positions are the right option.

If, however, you value diversity and change - and possibly the chance to grow your own consultancy or freelance agency, then building relationships with a wide range of companies on a freelance basis can serve as a great stepping stone to starting your own business.

It's also useful to keep in mind that once you have managed to secure a few contracts it might become important to be able to hire a few people to help manage the workload.

Once of the best platforms for finding and offering freelance work is on freelancer.com, and you can get a feel for the type of thing on offer here:

Whether or not you decide to work full-time or as a freelancer, I'm sure you'll enjoy the wide range of employment opportunities available and the rate at which the home job industry is growing.

How to find & win home based jobs

Remember that working from home is much like a business in the sense that you need to 'sell yourself' as you would any other type of brand or product. This means marketing and promotions.

One of the best ways to market yourself is to put together a decent portfolio website that can show off your talent and attract new clients online. Check out our create a website resource page for step-by-step guides on how to get started.

You also need to put together a professional resume (CV) that shows off your work experience and communicates to interviewers the right message about what you bring to the table. It's easy to put together a professional looking CV using WORD or other office software templates.

Be sure to keep it short, simple and clear - employers often have to skim over hundreds of applications, so if you can get the right information across quickly and clearly, you will stand a better chance of being noticed.

Finally, a decent business card doesn't hurt. If you want to ensure you get the best bang for your buck when it comes to creating a card - one that represents your personal brand - check out how to design and print business cards.

Keep a few cards on you at all times - you never know if the next person you meet might be interested in hiring you.

Home office furniture. Pic by Joey Parsons

The humble home office desk and chair have come along way. Now we have adjustable ergonomically designed swivel chairs that do everything but make the coffee. In fact, it can't be too long before we get a smartchair - an iChair - that can control the coffee machine.

But, as it turns out, making yourself as comfortable and supported (in all the right places) may not be as good for you as it seems. In fact, the less our bodies have to do the weaker they can become and more susceptible to injury and other problems.

Working from home to make money online

Selling online is getting easier and easier every day, from a technical point of view, because the technology to handle online transactions (like online shopping cart builders) is fast, easy to use, and cheap.

Tips and advice to save money for small business entrepreneurs. Pic by GotCredit

Starting and running a small business almost inevitably means that money is going to be tight at some stage - often for a prolonged length of time - until the business can start generating a decent stream of revenue.

I'm a strong believer in growing earnings above every other strategy. Saving money doesn't put money on the table, so it is more important to earn faster than to save. But, without efficient use of your financial resources it may be that your startup never makes it to profitability, and that's where money saving tips can be useful.

Despite spending most of my time working on my own startups, I find myself drawn to reading about what other people are up to, or making use of - whether it is new ideas, new marketing strategies & tools, or even inspiring stories. I can't help it. I have to keep tabs on who's doing what and what the latest trends, gadgets & tools are.

Inspirational entrepreneur quotes

Life as an entrepreneur can be extremely tough, which is why it is important to sometimes pause and listen to inspiring quotes that keep you going.

But it's one thing to read a quote, it's another to see it brought to life by an artist's interpretation. Often, the imagery combined with the quote can have a far more profound effect than the words by themselves.

And, in the world of small business, finding the right words at the right time could mean the difference between success and failure - especially if you're at the point where you really need something uplifting.
