5 new business ideas that are already making people millions

Coming up with innovative new ideas can be a frustrating ordeal unless you know where to look for inspiration. The good news is that there are people making a lot of money doing things you may not have dreamed of.

So, if you are feeling bold and adventurous I've got a list of killer business ideas that are working for people right now. Who knows, perhaps one of them is perfect for you.

Almost all of these ideas rely on the Internet (or some sort of technology), so once you've been inspired to start up be sure to check out our create a website resource that offers a bunch of step-by-step guides to help you create any type of site you need - as quickly, cheaply, and easily as possible.

1. Create original memes

Love them or hate them, memes are here to stay. And boy do they generate serious Web traffic when they take off.

No doubt you have already heard about the "white or gold" dress meme. This attracted so much attention in such a short space of time that it made news headlines all over the world on major networks.

There are more than a handful of people out there who pounce on new memes that show potential to go viral, and add their own humor to the mix.

What's nice about creating your own memes is that there are plenty of high traffic sites that you can share them on to bring traffic back to your site - think along the lines of 9gag and I can has cheezburger.

You can learn more about how Web traffic and earnings go hand in hand at how more website traffic equals higher earnings.

2. Be a gamer

I like games. I never really got into them that seriously though. The limits of my abilities stop around Age of Empires.

But, there are pro gamers out there who are raking in around $400 000 a year playing their games of choice.

If you already spend a lot of time on the couch playing games, perhaps you should think about taking things to the next level. And, if your hand-eye co-ordination is not up to the challenge, you could still become a tutor for other gamers.

There are plenty of people out there who would love to know how to kill something or other, or get to the next level, or find the rod/staff of something or other.

If you know how it's done, that information is valuable and you could share your wisdom in exchange for a fee.

3. Film your pets

As stupid as I think it is to run around filming your pets on the off chance they do something amazingly clever (or stupid), that fact of the matter is that millions of people scan the Web looking for funny new clips of animals.

One of the best examples of how people have made mega bucks from their pet kitty is Grumpy cat, who earns millions in revenue each year.

In fact, Grumpy cat is a great example of how to use what's available to you to create a successful business. You can learn more about how this kitty's owners generate massive amounts of revenue at what grumpy cat can teach you about creating a million dollar income.

If you constantly find yourself wishing you had filmed something your pet did, why not purchase a GoPro camera and get started. A YouTube clip that goes viral can earn in the region of $100 000 or more.

4. Sell bizarre stuff

I think everyone has a sense that no matter what you imagine, someone has already created a website about it - from nematodes, to owning newly discovered stars.

People not only expect the Web to contain weird stuff, they actually love hearing about it, and more often than not are prepared to pay for it - provided it is truly unique and bizarre.

One of my businesses is linked to Amazon via an associate relationship, and I get to see what items referred customers have purchased. Let me just say that I have learned about products I would never have imagined in a million years - like the pink fluffy bondage swing).

So if you have something truly weird that you can sell, create a website and get selling now. The sooner you can get your weirdness to the market, the faster you can start making sales and building a following.

5. Drinking games website

Ok, so technically this idea is not earning millions for anyone just yet, but I think it will.

Raise your hands if you've ever played a drinking game with your friends. Chances are you have, right? Everyone has at some stage.

So why not build a mobile website or app that helps facilitate drinking games for people who are out at a bar with a bunch of friends and want some entertainment.

You could make a stack of cash on everything from selling accessories and parts for various games. You could even hold nationwide competitions to see which barflys are the best at spin the bottle or fives-alive.

A great app that helps people have a great time - especially when they have had a couple of beers - is likely to generate a lot of interest very quickly. And, becoming a trusted name in the entertainment industry means you could be the next Internet millionaire.

So those are my five newest business ideas that anyone can start at any time. What are the weirdest, most unique ideas you've come across? Share your thoughts in the comments.

Starting a business can be a daunting task - often made all the more difficult by a small advertising/marketing budget and an insufficient network of contacts to help get things off the ground.

It's a good thing then that there is always one fantastic, free strategy to generate some high-quality buzz and exposure for your startup that will not only put your idea in front of plenty of the "right" people, but also, potentially, lead to some much-needed funds, influential connections, and media coverage.

I'm talking about university business competitions.

Being an entrepreneur is one of the best vocations in the world because it encourages you to view everything as an opportunity for innovation. And, once you have an idea, you have to challenge it. Break it down. Make it better. Throw it away. Start again. Fail. Fail. Fail. Until you succeed.

Whatever you can imagine, you can do. Provided you have the drive and determination to see it through.

Logo design tips

Designing a great logo for your startup can be one of the most important (and frustrating) challenges you take on.

How much time, effort and money should you put into a company logo? Do you even need one? What type of logo should you go for. How will it affect your business and brand growth potential?

Top ideas from university entrepreneurs

Encouraging younger people to become involved in entrepreneurship by holding business idea competitions is, in my opinion, one of the best ways to innovate our way out of the current financial doldrums the world finds itself in.

The creativity and energy exhibited by the students who enter the top business idea competitions from around the U.S. have shown the rest of us just how easy they can make it look when it comes to generating a new idea, putting together a plan, and pitching it to the world like pros.

Our earlier article on how to pitch big new clients touched on the importance of a good elevator pitch, and how this 30 - 60 seconds of info can mean the difference between success and failure.

I wanted to follow this up by showing how real-life entrepreneurs and startups used their own, unique elevator pitches to win new business or capture valuable publicity.
