Forums:

We want the best hosting package for a medium sized business, and are thinking of purchasing a plan from GoDaddy (who we have used in the past).

There are so many different plans, and many of them are "unlimited", so it's hard to decide which one is right for our corporate websites.

Which GoDaddy hosting packages are the best for business? Are they better than other services? If so, what makes them better?

The top GoDaddy hosting plans for business

For a professional business that values quality hosting features, reliability, and the ability to handle reasonable amounts of traffic ( or traffic spikes - for when your social media marketing starts paying dividends), it is important to opt for one of GoDaddy's quality hosting plans.

You have two choices:

Each of these server types offers impressive features, at considerably lower cost than other popular companies.

How much does GoDaddy cost?

VPS server plans start from as little as $23.99 per month, while their dedicated server plans start from around $100 per month.

What's in a GoDaddy hosting plan?

In terms of server resources, the cheapest VPS hosting offers 1 GB RAM, 40 GB storage, and 1000 GB of data transfer per month. These move up to 8 GB, 240 GB, and 8 000 GB respectively.

On the dedicated hosting front, packages start off with a dual core CPU, 2 GB RAM, 2 x 160 GB storage, and 5 000 GB transfer, and move up to 4 cores, 16 GB, 2 x 2 000 GB storage, and 20 000 GB of transfer per month.

Serious power at exceptionally competitive prices.

GoDaddy hosting benefits

GoDaddy also offers a huge range of benefits that come with all their plans, and you can expect:

  • Windows and Linux hosting
  • 99.9% uptime guarantee
  • Quick and easy setup
  • Dedicated IP addresses
  • FTP access
  • Intrusion prevention + high security
  • Network monitoring
  • 24/7 technical support via phone/email/Web

Depending on the size of your business, and how much Web traffic you intend driving to the site, you'll need to decide whether the VPS hosting or the dedicated hosting is right for your business.

In general, it is better to choose a plan that "covers" your requirements quite easily - when in doubt, pay a few extra dollars a month.

Otherwise you run the risk of having your server hit resource or bandwidth limits just as it starts getting busy - and this can lead to some nasty consequences (although GoDaddy does allow you to purchase additional bandwidth).
