Despite spending most of my time working on my own startups, I find myself drawn to reading about what other people are up to, or making use of - whether it is new ideas, new marketing strategies & tools, or even inspiring stories. I can't help it. I have to keep tabs on who's doing what and what the latest trends, gadgets & tools are.
5 Free Motivational Wallpapers & Backgrounds for Women Entrepreneurs
I love finding new motivational quotes from successful entrepreneurs and other personalities and find that reading an inspirational saying each morning, before starting work, makes a big difference to my day.
There's something encouraging about knowing that these people made it big and are sharing a bit of their wisdom with us. And, luckily, there is one fantastic site called Strange Fox that specialises in turning inspirational and motivational quotes into fantastic phone wallpapers and desktop backgrounds for women... absolutely free.
I asked Liz from Strange Fox to share some of her favourite motivational and inspirational quotes for women and share a sentence or two on why she likes them.
So if you're in need of a bit of a boost to kickstart the day and get your business, job or career firing on all cylinders, this list of my five favourite motivational sayings - with links to their free download pages (click on the image - no email or signup required) - should be just what you need.
1. I'm not telling you it’s going to be easy; I'm telling you it's going to be worth it.
Too true. Nothing worthwhile in life seems to come easy. But I think that just because it's going to be a challenge to go out there and get it kind of makes it even more worthwhile in the end. As Garfield once said, "the harder you work for something the more you appreciate it".
2. Believe in yourself
A short and sweet quote that says it all. Without confidence and self-belief making it in the world of business can be vary hard indeed. Take the time to say this to yourself each day and positive things will surely follow.
3. Be brave. Take risks
Couldn't have said it better myself. Part of believing in yourself is also about being brave and having the courage to take risks as a matter of course in your career. If you're not pushing yourself, taking risks, and being scared on a regular basis then you're not reaching your full potential. Not giving yourself enough of a challenge.
4. Be lovely
This one's kinda my favourite because it reminds me that I don't have to pick one or the other when it comes to business. I can do whatever I want and I can do it how I want. If that means wearing nice shoes while I do it (and it does), so be it.
5. You are confined only by the walls you build yourself
I think this actually goes nicely with the previous quote in the sense that it tells us we can define our own limitations. That's not to say there aren't some very real challenges out there, but none of them compare to the limitations we put on ourselves. Time to break those down.
So there you have it. There's actually plenty of great quote based phone wallpapers and desktop backgrounds on Strange Fox that are specifically designed to fit any type of device screen you have - including in both landscape and portrait layout. No chopped off background images there.
Browse around and share which ones are your favourites in the comments below. If there are any sayings or quotes that you love and would like Liz to consider turning into a wallpaper then also drop a line in the comments and we'll see if we can convince her.
It's occasionally valuable to take some time to listen to the collective wisdom of entrepreneurs, great personalities, and leaders who have distilled their knowledge and experience into inspiring quotes.
If you are struggling to get a new venture off the ground, or keep your company on the path to growth and prosperity, take ten minutes to stop and read through this list - you might just find the motivation you need to keep going.
The SBA (Small Business Administration) is a United States government department tasked with supporting and nurturing entrepreneurs, startups and small businesses. But what can it actually do for you?
We were curious about this so we asked our community for their stories about how the SBA - including the SBDC (Small Business Development Center) and SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives) who are also funded/supported by them - had impacted their ventures. Not including their websites that offer a huge online repository of information, articles and business resources (we'll list a bunch of important online resources for you to explore at the end of the article).
Life as an entrepreneur can be extremely tough, which is why it is important to sometimes pause and listen to inspiring quotes that keep you going.
But it's one thing to read a quote, it's another to see it brought to life by an artist's interpretation. Often, the imagery combined with the quote can have a far more profound effect than the words by themselves.
And, in the world of small business, finding the right words at the right time could mean the difference between success and failure - especially if you're at the point where you really need something uplifting.
The humble home office desk and chair have come along way. Now we have adjustable ergonomically designed swivel chairs that do everything but make the coffee. In fact, it can't be too long before we get a smartchair - an iChair - that can control the coffee machine.
But, as it turns out, making yourself as comfortable and supported (in all the right places) may not be as good for you as it seems. In fact, the less our bodies have to do the weaker they can become and more susceptible to injury and other problems.
